Marble Block Supply — Raw Block Direct from Quarry | Sipahi Wholesale Export
Sipahi Mermer supplies raw block marble, granite and onyx from Turkey's major quarry regions — Marmara Island, Muğla, Bergama, Afyon, Isparta. For sculpture manufacturers, stone-processing factories with their own cutting lines, and high-volume project buyers, we offer m³-based pricing, standard and custom block dimensions, FCA/CIF/DAP Incoterm options and secure payment via L/C. With 45 years of producer experience, we provide a direct, unintermediated quarry price.
What Is a Marble Block — Use Cases
A raw block is a mass of marble, granite or onyx extracted from the quarry, brought to standard or custom dimensions only by trimming cuts, without any further cutting or surface finishing. The buyer converts the block into slabs, countertops, sculptures or custom pieces at their own facility — so block supply is typically aimed at businesses with cutting capacity.
Sculpture and Art Fabrication
Sculptors and art studios prefer unprocessed block so they can select veining pattern and colour uniformity with their own eye; Marmara White and Afyon Sugar marble see especially strong demand in this segment.
Stone-Processing Factories
Factories with their own cutting line (block cutter, gang saw) import raw block to produce slabs in-house, keeping the value-add within their own operation.
High-Volume Project Supply
Block-form import is preferred on large-scale construction and infrastructure projects where processing the material at a facility near the project site offers a logistics and customs advantage.
Custom Dimension and Prestige Applications
Monuments, headstones and large-scale custom objects that exceed standard slab dimensions require block-form supply.
Turkish Marble Families Popular in Block Form
Buyer demand for block supply is generally concentrated in these 6 stone types:
Marmara White
A classic white marble with a crystalline structure and a bright, homogeneous texture, preferred for sculpture and prestige projects; it is the most requested item in block-form exports.
Muğla White
Known as sapphire grade, a white marble with fine grey veining; supplied in block form for high-grade countertop and prestige slab fabrication.
Bergama Granite
A dark, dense-textured, high-durability granite; preferred in block-form export for factory supply targeting flooring and exterior facade projects.
Isparta Onyx
A prestige stone with a semi-translucent structure and distinctive colour transitions, standing out for smaller-scale custom block requests such as backlit panels and decorative objects.
Afyon Sugar
A premium-grade marble with high whiteness and a crystallised texture; in demand in block form for sculpture and special interior projects.
Denizli Travertine
Due to its natural formation, this stone is generally processed in slab form; block-form supply is considered for special project requests and limited quantities.
Technical Specifications — Dimensions, Weight, Packaging
Dimensions, weight and packaging standards form the foundation of shipment planning for block supply.
Standard Dimensions
The most common block sizes are 200×150×80cm (~2.4 m³) and 250×150×100cm (~3.75 m³); custom-sized block cutting is also considered on buyer request.
Weight Calculation
Marble density is taken as an average of 2.7 tonnes/m³, granite 2.85 tonnes/m³; for example, a standard 2.4 m³ marble block weighs approximately 6.5 tonnes, and a 3.75 m³ block approximately 10 tonnes.
Container Capacity
A 20ft container has a carrying capacity of approximately 28 tonnes for marble; for standard-sized blocks this typically works out to 2-4 blocks, with the exact number depending on block dimensions and weight.
Packaging Standard
Blocks are secured with metal banding, placed on ISPM-15 compliant wooden pallets, and wrapped in plastic sheeting for moisture and impact protection.
B2B Export Process
Incoterm, payment and delivery timeline are confirmed in writing at the quotation stage for block export.
Incoterm Options
FCA (delivered at the Sakarya workshop), CIF (delivered to the destination port, insured and freight paid) or DAP (delivered to a specified point) options are offered depending on buyer requirements.
Minimum Order
The standard minimum order is 1 container (20ft, ~28 tonne capacity) of block material; smaller-volume requests are considered on a project basis.
Payment Terms
L/C (letter of credit) is standard for first orders with new customers; for established customers, a 30% advance + 70% TT (bank transfer) before shipment model is considered.
Export Insurance
For high-volume orders, export credit insurance options under Türk Eximbank are considered at the buyer's request.
Production Time
Block supply in standard dimensions takes 2-3 weeks; custom-cut requests can extend this timeline depending on quarry availability.
Packaging and Logistics
The weight of the block form directly affects packaging and container planning.
Metal Banding + ISPM-15 Pallet
Each block is secured with metal banding to prevent shifting during transport and placed on an ISPM-15 certified wooden pallet — compliant with the international wood packaging phytosanitary standard.
Plastic Wrap Protection
Blocks are wrapped in plastic sheeting for moisture and dust protection, preventing surface staining during long sea voyages.
Container Loading Planning
20ft or 40ft container choice is made based on block weight and dimensions; due to weight limits, a 20ft container is generally preferred.
Ports and Shipment
Container shipments are organised from the ports of İzmit and Gemlik; transit time to the destination port is communicated at the quotation stage.
